PRIZE MONEY

Pro Athlete Information

• In line with WTC's anti-doping policy all professional athletes wanting to race at Ironman Australia (and any Ironman race world wide) must have a WTC professional licence registration in addition to a National Federation licence card/letter.  The WTC professional licence registration will provide complimentary entry into the event. • Athletes must hold a WTC professional licence number before they enter or to have their entry accepted.

• All WTC professional athlete licence holders must enter IMA by January 31, 2010 .  No further free entries will be provided after this date.

• The professional pre-race meeting is mandatory. Athletes who do not attend this meeting may be penalized.

Professional Prize Money

There is equal prize money for Professional Male and Female athletes (US$50,000) paid down to tenth place, subject to Ironman rules which entail the 2nd to 10th placed professional athletes needing to finish within 8% of the finish time of the 1st placed finisher for both male and female.

Due to results of drug testing taking up to 6 weeks, payment for prize money will not be made until this time. Prize money winners will receive instructions at the Awards Function, and a letter detailing the method of invoicing IMG for the prize
money - this is dependent upon the residential status of the competitor, and his/her Australian Goods and Services Tax status.

All non-resident athlete prize money payments will be subject to the applicable Australian withholding taxes. International professional competitors should be aware of the Australian Tax laws in respect to payment of prize money and this withholding tax and the need for a work visa and the obtaining of an Australian Business Number (ABN) and Tax File Number (TFN).
