QUALIFYING SLOTS

The 2010 Urban Hotel Group Ironman Australia Triathlon" is an Official Qualifier for the Ford Ironman World Championship
in Kona, Hawaii , being held on 9 October 2010. Ironman Australia will be awarding sixty (60) qualifying slots for the World Championship. Please note that 5 slots will be available to Professional Athletes and 55 slots will be available to Age-Group Athletes.

2010 FORD IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2010 Urban Hotel Group Ironman Australia Triathlon is an Official Qualifier for the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, being held in October 2010. Ironman Australia will be awarding sixty (60) qualifying slots for the World Championship.

The distribution of qualifying slots will be in accordance with the rules of the World Triathlon Corporation as they apply at the time of the 2010 Urban Hotel Group Australia Triathlon. Qualifying slots will be allocated proportionately to each age division with the actual number of professional slots determined separately. The winners of each age division will automatically be allocated a slot and the balance will be distributed on a basis proportionate to the number of entrants in each age division.

HAWAII QUALIFICATION PROCESS

COMPETITORS WISHING TO QUALIFY MUST EITHER ATTEND FOR INITIAL ACCEPTANCE OR THE ROLLDOWN CEREMONY IN PERSON TO COLLECT THEIR SLOT

There are sixty (60) slots available at 2010 URBAN HOTEL GROUP IRONMAN AUSTRALIA for the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championship (Hawaii). All competitors who complete the Race within the cut off times on Sunday 28 March are eligible to qualify for a slot.

As close to 9.00am as possible on Monday 29 March, a list of the sixty (60) competitors who have initially qualified for a slot
at Hawaii will be posted outside the Race Info Office, Ironman Village. These initial Qualifiers will have two hours to think about and decide whether they will accept their slot.

From 9.00am - 10.45am - Competitors who have qualified outright (initial qualifiers) for a Hawaii slot are able to accept and pay for their slot (prior to the Roll Down Ceremony) at the Expo Marquee, Westport Park. All conditions as listed below must be adhered to.

At 11.00am, the Roll Down Ceremony of the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championship slots will commence and any slots that are not initially accepted will be offered and then rolled down until all 60 slots have been allocated.

To claim a slot for Hawaii, a competitor must:

  • Either accept his/her slot from 9.00am - 10.45am at the Expo Marquee OR attend the Rolldown Ceremony (Monday 29 March) in person at 11.00am also at the Expo Marquee with ID wristband still attached
  • Provide photo ID if requested
  • Upon acceptance of a slot, complete the registration process (including receiving all details relating to Hawaii entry procedure and make full payment of this slot) by 11.30am on Monday 29 March
  • Full payment of this Hawaii slot to be paid to IRONMAN AUSTRALIA on Monday 29 March by credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Bankcard only) or Australia Post Money Order in Australian Dollars (made out to IMG where applicable). The entry fee will be announced once provided by WTC.
  • Cash in Australian and American Dollars will be accepted - however NO change will be given.
  • Exchange rate figures will be supplied to Qualifiers at the Initial acceptance and the Rolldown Ceremony on Monday 29 March and will also be displayed at the Race Info Office from Friday 26 March 2010.
  • Allow sufficient time to claim the slot and make the entry fee payment to have registration completed by 11.30am
  • Each competitor wishing to qualify MUST BE PRESENT at the Initial acceptance or at the Rolldown Ceremony
    to claim a slot.

Anti Doping Information

•  In accordance with the World Triathlon Corporation Anti Doping Policy, all athletes accepting qualifying slots for the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championship and 2010 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 will be required to sign a condition of Entry, Release and Indemnification waiver, by which they agree to be placed into the WTC Registered Testing Pool for both in and out of competition testing, and voluntarily consent to be governed by the published rule: http://www.ironmanusa.com/wtc-antidoping-rules.pdf

•  We encourage all athletes to be familiar with the most current 2010  WADA Prohibited list which can be found: http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/World_Anti-Doping_Program/WADP-Prohibited-list/WADA_Prohibited_List_2010_EN.pdf

•  According to the World Anti-Doping Agency and the 2010 International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions, there are some substances which require a Declaration of Use.  The WTC recommends completing this in two ways:

a) Filing a Declaration of Use directly to your NADO or through your secured ADAMS login The WTC Declaration of Use form can be found -   http://www.ironmanusa.com/wtc-declarationofuse.pdf   

b) On the Doping Control Official Record at the time of testing should you be selected for Doping Control

The substances which require a Declaration of Use are listed below

•  Albuterol and Salmeterol by inhalation for the treatment of asthma

•  Inhaled or locally injected glucocorticosteroids (intramuscular use requires a TUE)

•  Platelet Rich Plasma injections (except intramuscular which requires a TUE).


All qualifiers MUST sign and agree to the WTC Anti-Doping Policy at the time of accepting the slot.
