Medicine in Motion 2010 is a medical conference which is being held in Port Macquarie during Ironman Week 2010 on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 March 2010. The focus of the conference is on medical and health matters affecting endurance athletes.

Conference organisers, Dr Bill Lancashire(a five- times Ironman) and Sue Carroll (a former Director on the Port Macquarie Ironman Local Organising Committee) , have put together an excellent programme for the two days. "Many Ironman competitors are in, or are interested in, the medical or allied health field, and would be delighted to incorporate a medical conference into their Ironman week," said Sue. "The conference is open to anyone, although it is aimed mainly at health professionals. Medical professionals can earn CME (Continuing Medical Education) points by attending. "

Speakers for the conference include both local and visiting medical specialists, many of whom are endurance athletes themselves. (There are sixteen Ironman titles between the speakers, plus distance runners and a distance swimmer!) Topics for the two day conference include:

•  Fluid and Electrolytes in the Ironman (Professor Robert Fassett of the University of Queensland, Ironman AUS, NZ, CAN)

•  Eyes and Sport (Dr Colin Thompson, Ophthalmologist, Ironman AUS)

•  The Guts of an Ironman (Dr Nigel Peck, Gastrointestinal Surgeon, distance swimmer)

•  The Female Athlete (Dr Jen Law, Ironman AUS)

•  The Role of Supplements Before and After the Race (Peter Clark, Nutritionist, distance runner)

•  Ironman Case Presentations (Dr Bill Lancashire, Ironman AUS, NZ,CAN)

•  The Older Athlete (Dr Matthew Kinchington, Geriatrician, Ultra-marathon runner)

Race organisers IMG, the Port Macquarie Local Organising Committee and Port Macquarie Hastings Council are very supportive of the conference.
