There may be a slight variation to the Bike course and any changes will be reflected in the updated Competitor Information Booklet and the website course description at a later date.

The Masters Milk Swim Leg is a one-lap clockwise course around the Busselton Jetty in the protected waters of Geographe Bay . The start is on the west side of the Jetty, in line with the 'Busselton Jetty Interpretive Centre' in chest-deep water approximately 40 metres from shore.
Competitors will swim in a northerly direction alongside the Jetty for 1.8km until the turning buoy positioned at the end of the Jetty, where they will turn right. Competitors then swim approximately 30 metres in an easterly direction until the next turning buoy, where they turn right again heading along the jetty and back towards shore for approximately 1.6km. They will then turn left away from the jetty proceeding at an angle to the shoreline to the swim finish opposite the Transition Area in Barnard Park

The Avanti Bike Leg commences from the Marine Terrace end of the "Ironman WA Village" where the Transition and Finish Line is located. On exiting the park athletes will mount their bikes, turn left and proceed east along Marine Terrace, turning left again at Milne Street and then right onto the right hand (inland) side of Geographe Bay Road (be careful to stay on the right hand side of the road as the run leg will be coming towards you on the ocean side of the road from the Ford Road Aid Station Turnaround).
Continuing east along Geographe Bay Road athletes will change to the left hand (ocean) side of the road after the aid station at Ford Road then turn right at Guerin Street , heading south to Layman Road . Athletes then turn right into Navigation Way left into Armitage Drive and left into Layman Road and travel for 8.5km until they reach the 'T' intersection at Tuart Drive . Turning left onto Tuart Drive , athletes proceed to the first turnaround point approximately 1.9 km past the aid station at 22.8km into the ride.
Athletes then return back along Tuart drive, passing the 'T' intersection and continuing on towards the Bussell Highway (west). Competitors then turn right onto the south lane (inland side) of the closed northern dual carriageway of Bussell Highway then travel west for 3.5 until the second turnaround point on the highway at the 39.5km mark, just before the Vasse Highway intersection. Athletes return in the left lane (ocean side), turning left off the Bussell Highway onto Tuart Drive, heading back along Layman Road to Carey Street, turn right into Carey Street and then turn left into Marine Terrace where athletes proceed along Marine Terrace past the "Ironman WA Village" to the roundabout at Queen Street just past the "Ironman WA Village".
Turning left into Queen Street they proceed to the turnaround point at the Kent Street roundabout. On turning at the roundabout they return along Queen Street and Marine Terrace to Milne Street, turning left and then completing the same course as described, two more times.
On completion of the third lap competitors again return along Queen Street and Marine Terrace and turn left into the "Ironman WA Village" for the Transition from bike to run.

The ASICS run course for the 2009 Ironman Western Australia Triathlon is a three-lap course along the Busselton foreshore. The "Ironman WA Village" transition is in the eastern portion of the run course so athletes will run out in a westerly direction to the George Way turnaround before returning to the "Ironman WA Village". Athletes then continue with another short out section in an easterly direction to the Ford Road Aid Station turnaround returning to Barnard Park to complete their first lap.
On exiting the Transition Area in the "Ironman WA Village" competitors turn left heading in a westerly direction along Geographe Bay Road past the Scout Hall and into the car park towards the Busselton Jetty.
Athletes continue into the car park veering around the front of the Goose Restaurant on the pathway west of the jetty in front of the Equinox Restaurant, through the car park to High Street and then run onto the right hand (ocean) side of Geographe Bay Road heading to the Yacht Club.
Athletes run past the Yacht Club, crossing over the pedestrian bridge at Margaret Street . Athletes then turn right off the bridge and follow the pathway around to Mills Street and onto the pathway behind the hospital proceeding past Craig Street . They then make their way along the right hand (ocean) side of Geographe Bay Road to Dolphin Road where they turn left and then right onto the left hand (inland) side of Geographe Bay Road left into Silverglen Avenue then right into William Drive and onto the George Way turnaround.
Competitors then return back along the left hand (ocean) side of William Drive , Silverglen Avenue and Geographe Bay Road to Dolphin Road where they turn left and then head straight onto the Geographe Bay Road pathway to Craig Street . Thereafter they follow the same route as they followed out making their way back to the Busselton Jetty.
Athletes then continue on past the Busselton Jetty on the pathway adjacent to the ocean in front of the Goose Restaurant, keeping to the beach side of the Scout Hall. They then continue along the path to the second turnaround point at the Ford Road Aid Station turnaround.
Competitors return along Geographe Bay Road, on the right hand (ocean) side of the road (be careful to stay on the right hand (ocean) side of the road as the bike leg will be coming towards you on the inland side of the road), back to and past the "Ironman WA Village" transition to then complete another two laps. At the end of the third lap when reaching the Geographe Bay Road - Milne Street intersection, athletes will be directed back into the "Ironman WA Village" to the finish line.
