Age qualification for Kona Hawaii
WTC policy dictates that the IMWA age division qualifying slots for Kona will be determined as age as at 31 December 2009. It is likely that some competitors whose birthdays fall after 31 December 2009 will qualify in a younger division but will race at Kona as age at 31 December 2010 the date for all age division competitors at Kona 2010.
Bike Hire
If you are seeking to hire a bike to race rather than bringing your own you should email the bike shop owners Mark or Rob at Avanti Plus Busselton on robert@westozbikes.com.au and they will advise on what may be available.
Water temperature
It is an Ocean swim with minor tidal influence but is subject to some temperature variance. You can expect average temperatures in the range 19c to 22C Wetsuits
The wearing of wetsuits being optional is based on water temperature and if above 24C then they may be banned but this can depend on variables such as ambient air temperature. The temperature is taken on Friday morning at 6.00am and advice given at race briefing. It is again taken at 5.00am on race morning for final determination. It is in all likelihood that wetsuits will be optional as they have been for the last 5 years.

The minimum age to race Ironman as an individual is 18 years on race day with no exceptions . Only Team swimmers may be considered for a variation to this rule.
